How do you frame a shed roof overhang. Trim off the top corner to follow the slope of the angled top plate. Always try to match the house roof pitch angle and overhang for your shed roof. Sometimes the rafter will have a tail and extend out past the wall so that you have a soffit or overhang. In the direction of the roof span the roof member simply cantilevers past the wall plate.
